Boost Engagement on Your Nonprofit Website with a Sticky Sidebar and Mobile CTA Button

Nonprofit websites are often filled with important calls-to-action: donate now, sign up to volunteer, join our newsletter, register for an event. But many organizations struggle to make these actions visible across different screen sizes — especially on mobile.

In this blog post, I’ll show you a simple yet powerful way to boost engagement on your site using Elementor Free (yes, no need for Pro!) and just a little CSS. This technique lets you create:

  • A sticky sidebar on desktop
  • A sticky bottom button on mobile

These features are perfect for making key actions stand out — leading to better donor conversions, volunteer sign-ups, and event participation.

Why This Matters for Nonprofits

Nonprofit websites aren’t just digital brochures — they’re tools for action. But if your site’s calls-to-action are buried, people won’t click.

By making your key buttons or tabs “stick” to the screen, you ensure they’re always visible — without being intrusive. This leads to:

✅ Increased donations – keep the donate button visible as users scroll
✅ More volunteer sign-ups – add a recruitment CTA on mobile
✅ Stronger campaign results – promote timely events, petitions, or programs
✅ Better mobile engagement – a floating button on mobile keeps the most important action right where your audience’s thumb is

How It Works

In my YouTube tutorial, I walk you through how to do this with Elementor’s Flexbox container system:

📌 On desktop, the sidebar stays on the right-hand side as users scroll — great for adding quick links, contact info, or persistent CTAs.
📱 On mobile, the button sticks to the bottom of the screen, guiding visitors toward the action you want them to take.

You don’t need Elementor Pro or third-party plugins. It’s all done with native Elementor containers and a few lines of CSS.

What You Can Use This For

Here are some real-world examples where nonprofits can apply this feature:

  • Add a sticky “Donate Now” button during a seasonal campaign
  • Highlight your volunteer opportunities with a fixed mobile footer
  • Promote event registration before a fundraiser or workshop
  • Direct users to your membership portal or client intake forms
  • Encourage newsletter sign-ups to build your contact list

Sometimes, small improvements can lead to big results. By implementing a sticky sidebar or mobile CTA button, you’re not just making your website prettier — you’re making it work harder for your mission.
